Responsibilities
The consultant will conduct an updated assessment of Zanzibar's blue economy using the UNECA Blue Economy Valuation Toolkit, gathering data and liaising with local stakeholders. For Seychelles, the consultant will update the marine biotechnology investment plan by developing detailed business plans with profitability indicators and conducting a return on investment assessment. This involves close consultation with national departments and stakeholders, peer review of draft reports, and validation sessions. The consultant will also support the practical application of the toolkit with relevant officers.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of experience in data collection and research related to the blue economy and marine species is necessary. Experience in conducting qualitative and quantitative socio-economic and ecological assessments, blue economy value chains, and working with national institutions is desirable. Experience in multicultural or international settings is also preferred.
Skills
Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to work independently, proactively, and with minimal supervision. Demonstrated experience in delivering high-quality outputs under tight deadlines. Understanding of marine species, blue economy value chains, and socio-economic/ecological assessments.
