Organizational Context
The UN Secretariat's Resident Coordinator System in Costa Rica seeks an intern to support economic analysis. This role is crucial for gathering and analyzing data related to economic, fiscal, financial, and social trends, contributing to strategic reporting and national dialogue on development goals.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this internship is to provide comprehensive support to the Economist Officer in economic data management and analysis. The intern will assist in collecting, integrating, and validating diverse datasets, and contribute to the creation of analytical matrices, time series, and strategic reports. A key aspect of the role involves developing advanced visualizations to interpret findings for strategic reports and national counterpart dialogues. The intern will also support the systematization of information for development financing, fiscal sustainability, and SDG financing gap analysis, and maintain data repositories and monitoring tools, aligning with the Cooperation Framework and UNCA process.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include supporting the collection, integration, cleaning, and validation of economic, fiscal, financial, and social databases. The intern will contribute to building and updating analytical matrices, time series, and strategic indicators for monitoring structural trends, territorial gaps, and sector dynamics related to the SDGs. This role involves creating advanced visualizations such as graphs, pivot tables, dashboards, and executive presentations to facilitate the interpretation of results for strategic reports and national dialogues. Additionally, the intern will support the systematization and preliminary analysis of official information for inputs on development financing, fiscal sustainability, public and private investment, and SDG financing gaps. The position also requires providing support for updating data repositories, monitoring tools, and tracking panels linked to the Cooperation Framework and UNCA process, along with other assigned tasks in economic analysis and data management.

Skills
Macroeconomics, microeconomics, data analysis, advanced data visualization (graphs, pivot tables, dashboards), report preparation, data collection, data integration, data validation, and proficiency in Spanish (oral and written).
