Web Development Intern: web development and design for projects of UNICRI Centre for AI and Robotics

Organizational Context

The United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) is a UN entity focused on crime prevention and criminal justice. This internship is within UNICRI’s Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics in The Hague, The Netherlands. The role supports the Centre's activities, specifically contributing to a project website's improvement.

Job Purpose

This internship aims to provide practical experience in web development and design within the UNICRI Centre for AI and Robotics. The intern will contribute to the enhancement of a project website, assisting with content management, technical configuration, and evaluation of website elements. The role involves monitoring relevant trends and innovations, communicating project status, and participating in technical planning. This position offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in web development while supporting the UN's mission in crime prevention and criminal justice, working in a hybrid modality from The Hague.

Responsibilities

Assist in the implementation of activities for UNICRI’s Centre for AI and Robotics, with a focus on improving a project website. Duties include exporting content from Drupal, supporting WordPress configuration, and editing, updating, importing, and uploading content (text, documents, images, videos) to the website. Evaluate technical elements and propose improvements. Monitor global sources for relevant trends, developments, and technological innovations in AI and robotics. Communicate project status, issues, and risks to the project team. Participate in defining technical requirements and planning technical aspects of UNICRI Centre projects. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Work Experience

Preferred experience includes knowledge and practical application of WordPress development, a basic understanding of HTML and CSS, and familiarity with website deployment and hosting management. Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the UN and the UNICRI Centre for AI and Robotics is also preferred.
