The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority, setting the environmental agenda and promoting sustainable development within the UN system. The Ecosystems Division supports countries in managing terrestrial, freshwater, and marine ecosystems. The Regional Seas Branch (RSB) coordinates the Regional Seas Programme, addressing ocean degradation and linking regional efforts with global environmental frameworks. This internship is hosted within the RSB.
Job Purpose
This internship within UNEP's Ecosystems Division, Regional Seas Branch (RSB), aims to support the branch's technical and coordination needs. The intern will contribute to the implementation of projects and programmes, and assist in coordinating the 18 Regional Seas initiatives. Key contributions include monitoring project progress, compiling technical content for various UNEP reports, facilitating the submission of reporting requirements, and maintaining activity records. The role also involves supporting the development of communication materials and providing administrative assistance for meetings and workshops, all while aligning with the intern's interests and the branch's objectives.
Responsibilities
Monitor and review the implementation progress of RSB activities, projects, and the 18 Regional Seas' activities related to the Regional Seas Coordination Project. Assist with monthly and biannual reporting in the Integrated Planning Monitoring and Reporting (IPMR) system. Compile technical content for UNEP's regular reporting on RSP activities, consolidating inputs from the 18 Regional Seas. Facilitate the submission of reporting by following up on requirements, templates, and timelines. Track, maintain, and update reporting inputs and activity records from the 18 Regional Seas. Support the development of communication materials by collecting case studies and best practices. Provide administrative and logistical support for meetings, workshops, and conferences, including preparing documents and taking notes.
