Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to teach Russian language courses, both general and specialized, in-person or online, to UN staff. The teacher will contribute to promoting multilingualism and enhancing staff's work-related language skills. This involves preparing and delivering engaging lessons, developing learning materials, administering assessments, providing feedback, and managing administrative tasks related to course delivery and student progress. The role aims to ensure high student satisfaction and successful course completion, aligning with UN mandates and learning objectives.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include teaching Russian general and specialized language courses, either in-person or online. This involves preparing classes, developing and updating learning materials according to the LTP curriculum, and ensuring the technical readiness of required software and devices. The role also entails administering and updating the CLM language learning platform (Moodle), including setting up, maintaining, and monitoring student activity. Providing timely group and individual feedback on student progress and offering advice for skill development is crucial. Additionally, the teacher will administer, assess, and grade tasks, tests, and exams, and perform administrative duties such as maintaining attendance and grading records, and communicating with students. Collaboration with colleagues and participation in meetings are also expected.
Work Experience
A minimum of four years of experience teaching Russian as a foreign/second language to adults in a multicultural setting is required. At least three years of recent experience in curriculum development, language examination design, or language teacher training is also necessary. Experience with e-learning tools, Moodle, and online collaboration tools is desirable, as is experience in an international, multicultural environment.
