Job Purpose
This consultancy role is designed to support the development and implementation of UNODC Environment Team activities in Viet Nam, specifically focusing on the GUARD Wildlife and WasteNet projects. The consultant will provide on-site support for coordination with other projects in Viet Nam and Southeast Asia, fostering close collaboration with national stakeholders. The position aims to contribute to UNODC's mandate of combating environmental crime by facilitating project activities, ensuring effective coordination, and supporting national efforts in Viet Nam and the broader region.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of UNODC Environment Team activities in Viet Nam, including the GUARD Wildlife and WasteNet projects. This involves providing on-site support for coordination with other projects in Viet Nam and Southeast Asia, and maintaining close collaboration with national stakeholders. Key duties include collecting and analyzing data, drafting reports on various aspects of waste and wildlife crime, organizing and facilitating meetings and consultations, developing national Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and inter-agency cooperation guidelines, and supporting capacity-building initiatives. The role also involves documenting donor engagement and fundraising efforts.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of national or international work experience in areas related to environmental crime, international development, legal affairs, or enforcement is required. Experience in developing and delivering capacity building, technical assistance, and implementing programme activities in Viet Nam is also necessary. Experience with Viet Nam’s legal frameworks and working with governmental agencies is desirable.
Skills
Strong interpersonal and excellent oral communication skills are required. Knowledge of supply chains, Customs procedures, and government procedures for technical assistance is desirable. Strong organization and time management skills, with the ability to work independently, are essential. Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Vietnamese is desirable.
