FACILITIES MANAGEMENT OFFICER
Organizational Context
This role is within the DC2 Building Renovation Project at UN Headquarters, New York, under the Department of Operational Support. The Facilities and Commercial Activities Service manages the complex, ensuring effective planning, maintenance, and operation of physical facilities. The incumbent reports to the Senior Project Officer for the DC2 Building Renovation Project.
Job Purpose
The P4 Design and Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing the design and construction of the DC2 Building renovation project, ensuring successful implementation within schedule and budget. This involves coordinating design documentation, managing construction activities, and ensuring compliance with project scope and key performance indicators. The role supports major building renovations and large-scale office relocations while maintaining business continuity. Duties include contract administration, technical evaluations, facilitating communication between stakeholders, managing project documentation, and coordinating office moves and furniture relocation.
Responsibilities
Manage, coordinate, and monitor the design and construction of the DC2 Building renovation, ensuring adherence to schedule, budget, and scope. Oversee construction activities and contract administration, including scope definition, cost estimation, technical evaluation, compliance monitoring, and invoice verification. Coordinate the development of design and construction documentation, particularly for HVAC and engineering disciplines. Analyze and advise on the planning, design, construction, and budgeting of office reconfigurations. Monitor the performance of professional firms and contractors, ensuring quality standards are met. Facilitate communication between designers and contractors, manage project documentation, and coordinate updates in the CAFM system. Plan and direct office moves and furniture/equipment relocation, supervising staff as needed.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of progressive experience in architectural or engineering design, planning, and construction is required. Experience with AutoCAD or similar software, staff supervision, and managing large-scale construction projects is necessary. Experience in office renovation project management and ERP systems is desirable.
