The United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF) provides retirement, death, disability, and related benefits to UN staff and other member organizations. With over 80,000 beneficiaries globally, UNJSPF administers benefits from offices in New York, Geneva, Nairobi, and Bangkok. This role is within the Business Transformation Unit, focused on modernizing services and improving efficiency.
Job Purpose
The Senior Programme Management Assistant provides comprehensive support for programme and project management within the Business Transformation Unit (BTU) of the UNJSPF. This role is crucial for implementing transformation and change management solutions, aligning initiatives with strategic goals, and enhancing the effectiveness and innovation of Pension Administration services. The assistant will independently manage various project phases, analyze data, ensure compliance, and coordinate activities across diverse organizational units. This position contributes directly to the modernization and continuous improvement efforts of the UNJSPF, ensuring services are streamlined and client-oriented. The role involves extensive liaison, reporting, and support for project closures and knowledge sharing, ultimately supporting the Deputy Chief Executive of Pension Administration.
Responsibilities
Provide full-range programme/project management and implementation assistance across all project phases, focusing on initiatives like Continuous Improvement, Process Mapping, Performance Measurement, and Benefits Monitoring. Research, analyze, and present data on programmes and projects, highlighting key trends and issues. Review and revise project submissions for compliance and objective alignment, identifying and resolving issues. Prepare project-related newsletters and draft various documents, reports, and correspondence. Identify and analyze opportunities for business process improvement and efficiency. Serve as a focal point for coordinating, monitoring, and expediting project implementation, liaising with diverse organizational units. Arrange project closures, conduct lessons learned workshops, and manage final reports. Provide secretariat services for committees and task forces, including drafting agendas and minutes. Establish and manage internal databases for project-related data. Assist with data collection, analysis, presentation, and reporting for knowledge management and decision-making. Update and maintain the BTU intranet site, knowledge base, and repositories. Organize knowledge-sharing sessions and provide guidance and training to staff on BTU initiatives.
Work Experience
A minimum of ten years of progressive experience in business process management, lean methodology, operational excellence, business analysis, change management, or project management is required. This requirement is reduced to eight years for candidates with a first-level university degree. Excellent communication skills are essential for engaging with diverse stakeholders. Experience in Pension Fund administration or the financial services industry is desirable.
