Organizational Context
The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), a regional commission of the United Nations, aims to contribute to the economic and social development of the Latin American and Caribbean region. The Human Resources Section in Santiago, Chile, is organized into Recruitment, Staff Administration, and Staff Development and Performance Management. This internship is for a 6-month duration within one of these three areas.
Job Purpose
This internship within the Human Resources Section of ECLAC in Santiago offers a valuable learning opportunity for students and recent graduates. The intern will gain practical experience by supporting various HR functions, including recruitment processes, staff administration, and staff development initiatives. The role contributes to the efficient operation of the HR Section by assisting with daily tasks, data management, reporting, and the implementation of HR projects. This position is supervised by the Chief of the Human Resources Section and provides exposure to UN HR practices, supporting the section's mission to facilitate the commission's work through effective human capital management.
Responsibilities
Support the management of ECLAC's Internship Programme and assist throughout the recruitment process, including maintaining communication channels and outreach databases. Organize and document information within unit libraries, and contribute to employer branding content. Assist with data collection, analysis, presentation preparation, and monthly reporting. Support the design and delivery of training workshops and other HR projects as needed. In Staff Administration, assist with onboarding and separation activities, update the Welcome Guide, and support the administration and analysis of surveys. Prepare, deliver, and follow up on various HR communications and update communication templates. In Staff Development, assist in preparing and delivering training materials, record attendance, manage training statistics, and support the e-learning platform. Responsibilities may also include scheduling, technical checks for training sessions, and assisting with evaluations and reports.
Work Experience
Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, practical experience with MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint) or similar is required. Studies in Administration, Human Resources, Data Analytics, Communication, or Advertising are preferred.
