Intern - Public Information - Prague
Organizational Context
The United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Prague, part of the Department of Global Communications, serves as the primary source of information about the UN in the Czech Republic. It aims to foster public understanding and support for UN activities by disseminating information, engaging partners, and connecting the UN with the public. This internship role supports the UNIC Prague team.
Job Purpose
This internship at UNIC Prague aims to provide practical experience in public information and strategic communications within the UN system. The intern will support the team in disseminating UN information materials, engaging with local audiences and partners, and promoting public understanding of the UN's mission and activities. The role contributes to bringing the UN closer to the people it serves by assisting with digital communications, content adaptation, event organization, media monitoring, and public inquiries, thereby supporting the overall communication priorities of the UNIC Prague office.
Responsibilities
Assist in managing UNIC's digital communication channels, including adapting social media assets, designing posts for Instagram and Facebook, and subtitling videos. Support the editing and adaptation of content for the UNIC Prague website. Maintain databases for social media visuals (Trello) and contacts (MS Excel, Mailchimp). Provide translation and editing services between English and Czech. Assist in organizing public events such as seminars, conferences, and festivals. Conduct media monitoring and assist in responding to public inquiries and media communications. Provide support with logistics, administrative tasks, and general secretarial functions, including managing mail, phone calls, and emails.
Work Experience
Professional work experience is not required for this internship. However, a relevant field of study is essential. The role involves assisting with various communication and administrative tasks, providing an opportunity to gain practical experience.
