Organizational Context

The United Nations Secretariat, specifically the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UNESCWA), seeks an intern for its External Relations and Outreach (ERC) unit. This hybrid role, based in Beirut, offers a two-month duration. The intern will support the Secretary of the Commission and the Chief of External Relations and Outreach.

Job Purpose

This internship aims to provide practical experience within the UNESCWA's External Relations and Outreach unit. The intern will contribute to research on economic and social development issues relevant to Western Asia, compile and process socioeconomic data, and support the preparation of various documents and presentations. The role also involves assisting in the organization of meetings and preparing reports on the regional economic and social policy landscape. This position offers a valuable opportunity to gain exposure to international affairs and contribute to the commission's mandate while developing research and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

Conduct research and reference searches on economic and social development issues pertinent to the region. Compile, process, and manage socioeconomic databases from diverse sources. Assist in drafting inputs for presentations, project documents, and research papers. Support the organization of meetings and events. Prepare surveys and reports on the economic and social policy environment within Western Asia. Undertake other ad-hoc activities as assigned by supervisors.

Work Experience

No previous work experience is required for this internship. The focus is on academic background and demonstrated interest in the UN's work.

Skills
