Job Purpose
This Communication Intern role at the Office of the Victims' Rights Advocate (OVRA) in New York is designed to provide hands-on experience within the UN Secretariat. The intern will support the OVRA's mission, which is to uphold the rights and dignity of victims of sexual exploitation and abuse by UN personnel. The role contributes to the effective implementation of communication strategies, content production, and outreach activities, thereby enhancing the visibility and impact of the OVRA's work and the UN's commitment to victim support and accountability.
Responsibilities
The Communication Intern will conduct research and analysis on issues relevant to the Victims' Rights Advocate mandate and the Office's work. Key duties include supporting the implementation of internal and external communication strategies, and contributing to the production of multimedia and digital content. The intern will also assist in designing, drafting, and updating presentations and other communication materials. Additionally, responsibilities involve supporting communication and public information activities, outreach efforts, and monitoring social media engagement. The role also includes attending meetings and taking minutes, along with performing other assigned duties to support the Office's objectives.
Work Experience
No prior working experience is required for this internship. However, candidates should possess relevant training, education, or advanced coursework that would benefit the United Nations. Experience with graphic/web design applications is considered advantageous.
Skills
Research and analysis, internal and external communications strategy implementation, multimedia and digital content production, presentation design and drafting, public information activities, social media monitoring, meeting minute-taking, computer literacy in standard software, graphic/web design applications (desirable).
