INFORMATION SYSTEMS OFFICER (PENSION AND BENEFITS)
Organizational Context
The United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF) provides retirement, death, disability, and related benefits to over 150,000 participants and 80,000 beneficiaries across 25 member organizations. With offices in New York, Geneva, Nairobi, and Bangkok, UNJSPF-Pension Administration employs approximately 278 staff. This role is within the Information Management Systems Service, Enterprise Applications Section, reporting to a Team Lead.
Job Purpose
This Information Systems Officer role is within the Information Management Systems Service, Enterprise Applications Section of the UNJSPF-PA. The primary purpose is to manage and implement enterprise platforms and systems that support pension administration and related services. This includes developing and maintaining complex integrated systems, ensuring their operationalization, and providing ongoing support. The role contributes to the efficient and effective delivery of benefits by leveraging technology, managing projects, and ensuring systems align with ITIL best practices and cloud adoption strategies. The officer will also be responsible for system specifications, user documentation, training, and disaster recovery planning, ultimately supporting good client relations and service level agreements.
Responsibilities
Manage projects for system analysis, design, development, and implementation of moderately complex systems. Implement and operationalize enterprise platforms for pension administration and enabling services, including configuration, integration, testing, deployment, and stabilization. Deliver end-to-end integration between pension systems and enterprise platforms (e.g., ERP, document management, ITSM) using APIs, data mapping, and security protocols. Ensure systems are supported via ITIL-aligned processes for application operations. Support cloud adoption and migration activities, including integration patterns, environment management, CI/CD, and operational readiness. Develop detailed system specifications and user documentation. Provide expert advice to users, analyze requirements, and translate them into applications. Maintain, upgrade, and enhance existing systems, troubleshoot issues, and provide user support. Develop and maintain integrated enterprise systems, ensuring data security and access controls. Perform unit and integrated testing, and assist users with acceptance testing. Develop training materials and user manuals, and train staff. Develop disaster recovery plans. Research and recommend new technologies. Write reports on systems-related topics. Facilitate client communications and coordinate Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Provide guidance and supervision to junior staff and consultants.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressive experience in planning, design, development, configuration, implementation, and maintenance of computer information systems is required. Experience with pension administration business processes, entitlement processing, or payroll/payment lifecycles is also required. Experience with Vitech V3/Velocity, Oracle Fusion Financials, ERP Financial Suite, Pension/Payroll Systems, or Service Now is desirable.
