Organizational Context
The United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) aims to advance understanding of crime, foster just criminal justice systems, and support international cooperation. This internship is within the CBRN Risk Mitigation and Security Governance Programme, focusing on the EU's CBRN Centres of Excellence Initiative to enhance regional security and safety through best practices and policy development.
Job Purpose
This internship provides an opportunity to contribute to the UNICRI's CBRN Risk Mitigation and Security Governance Programme, specifically supporting the EU's CBRN Centres of Excellence Initiative. The intern will assist in enhancing the Investigation, Prosecution, and Adjudication (IPA) capabilities of Moldova and Ukraine by developing project-related documents, improving training materials, and supporting project coordination. The role involves drafting various written outputs, preparing concept notes and proposals, and assisting with event organization, contributing to the overall goal of strengthening national CBRN policies and regional security.
Responsibilities
Assist in organizing and preparing in-person and virtual meetings, workshops, and conferences, including managing invitations, participant coordination, and logistics. Contribute to drafting and editing project-related written materials such as background documents, summary reports, issue briefs, and talking points. Prepare concept notes and project proposals, clearly articulating objectives, outcomes, timelines, and resource needs. Draft presentations and other training materials. Attend online meetings and teleconferences, taking detailed notes and initiating follow-up actions. Support the creation of written outputs like speeches and internal content, including research and drafting. Assist in designing and preparing PowerPoint presentations. Draft short articles or visibility materials for publication. Provide general support for events and project activities, including preparing materials and coordinating logistics. The intern may be assigned other tasks based on evolving team and project needs.
Work Experience
No professional work experience is required for the UN Internship Programme. However, applicants must be pursuing or have completed a relevant university degree. A field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Good knowledge of standard software applications like MS Word, PowerPoint, and Teams is required.
Skills
Drafting and editing written materials, preparing concept notes and project proposals, developing training materials, presentation design, note-taking and summarization, research, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams.
