Job Purpose
The Health Centre Pharmacist is responsible for coordinating and implementing daily pharmacy operations in accordance with UNRWA Health Department policies and procedures. This role ensures the availability of essential drugs, manages medication dispensing, and provides crucial pharmaceutical advice to patients and medical officers. The incumbent plays a key role in rational prescribing, educating patients on medication use and potential side effects, and maintaining accurate documentation of drug movements. The position contributes to the effective functioning of health centers by ensuring the safe and efficient management of pharmaceutical supplies and services, ultimately supporting the health and well-being of Palestine refugees.
Responsibilities
Coordinate and implement daily pharmacy operations, adhering strictly to Health Department policies, processes, and standard operating procedures. Supervise and provide technical guidance to pharmacy staff, ensuring their adequate training and performance. Manage the receipt, registry, and dispensing of medicines, ensuring the availability of all drugs on the UNRWA's essential drugs list. Maintain accurate documentation of medicine movements within the pharmaceutical information system for inventory management and ordering. Dispense medications as prescribed by Medical Officers and provide patient counseling on medication intake, potential side effects, and interactions. Advise Medical Officers and health staff on medication-related issues, including side effects and drug-drug interactions, promoting rational prescribing. Educate individuals and groups on medication-related topics to enhance awareness and knowledge. Produce periodic reports on dispensary activities with in-depth analysis. Ensure the cleanliness and tidiness of the dispensary.
Work Experience
A minimum of four years of progressively responsible and relevant professional experience in a similar role is required. Experience in using computers and understanding their application in health settings is also necessary.
