The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority, setting the environmental agenda and promoting sustainable development. This consultancy position is within the HR Section of the Corporate Services Division, based in Nairobi, reporting to the Training Officer.
Job Purpose
This role aims to enhance self-awareness, empathy, and interpersonal skills among UNEP leaders to improve collaboration and leadership capabilities. The purpose is to equip leaders with emotional intelligence skills to effectively navigate uncertainty, connect authentically with their teams, and foster resilience. The consultant will design, develop, and deliver virtual learning sessions on Emotional Intelligence for UNEP staff across all divisions and regional offices, contributing to a more adaptable and cohesive workforce.
Responsibilities
The consultant will design, develop, and deliver two cohorts of virtual learning sessions focused on Emotional Intelligence for leading teams in times of uncertainty. Key responsibilities include conducting a pre-learning needs assessment and producing an analytical report. The consultant will design and develop diverse learning resources such as presentations, guides, case studies, and practical exercises. Facilitating engaging virtual learning sessions using adult learning methodologies is crucial. Finally, the consultant will administer post-learning assessments and prepare a comprehensive report detailing participant feedback, learning outcomes, observations, and lessons learned.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in learning design, facilitation, coaching, and organizational development is required. Experience with UN or international organizations in change management or HR development is desirable. Demonstrated experience applying Emotional Intelligence to lead teams in uncertain times is also desirable.
