Organizational Context
The United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF) provides retirement, death, and disability benefits to UN staff and member organizations. With over 80,000 beneficiaries and 150,000 participants, it operates globally with offices in New York, Geneva, Nairobi, and Bangkok. This temporary Information Systems Officer role is within the Enterprise Applications Section (EAS) of the Information Management Systems Service (IMSS) at UNJSPF-Pension Administration in New York, reporting to the Chief of Section.
Job Purpose
This role serves as the lead Solution Architect for enterprise integrations within the UNJSPF. The primary purpose is to design and oversee the implementation of end-to-end interface architectures connecting UNJSPF with its member organizations, ensuring alignment with the Fund's target architecture and pension administration model. The position involves leading solution design for the integration layer between core systems like ERP, ITSM/HRSD/CSM, and the pension administration platform. This ensures data integrity, security, and auditability across the integrated landscape. The role also provides technical leadership for complex initiatives, owns architecture decisions, and defines non-functional requirements. Furthermore, it involves establishing integration standards, mentoring technical staff, facilitating communication with stakeholders, and participating in technology roadmap development. A key aspect is championing the adoption of AI tools to enhance the software development lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Serve as the lead Solution Architect for enterprise integrations, designing end-to-end interface architectures between UNJSPF and member organizations, ensuring alignment with the Fund's target-state architecture and pension administration domain model. Design and oversee implementation of integration patterns across MuleSoft, Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC), and event-driven architectures, including API-led connectivity, canonical data models, and reusable integration assets. Lead solution design for the integration layer between ERP, ITSM/HRSD/CSM, and the Fund's pension administration platform, ensuring data integrity, security, and auditability. Provide technical leadership for complex initiatives, owning architecture decisions, design authority sign-offs, non-functional requirements (performance, scalability, security, observability), and integration governance standards. Establish and maintain integration standards, API governance, reference architectures, and reusable design patterns; chair or contribute to the architecture review board. Mentor and provide technical direction to engineers and developers, reviewing their work. Facilitate communications with member organizations, vendors, and clients, acting as the technical counterpart in inter-agency groups and SLA negotiations. Participate in budget planning, vendor evaluation, and technology roadmap development. Champion the adoption of AI accelerators and agentic tooling across the SDLC.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of progressive experience as a Solution or Technical Architect in multi-cloud, SaaS-heavy enterprise environments is required. Five years of hands-on experience designing and delivering enterprise integrations using MuleSoft and/or Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC), including API-led connectivity, canonical models, and integration governance, is required. Experience designing integrations with Oracle Cloud (ERP/HCM/Payroll) and ServiceNow is also required. Experience with pension administration, payroll, or core financial platforms is desirable.
