The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) seeks a Senior Digital Impact Officer based in Amman. This role is within the Information Management Department, specifically supporting the Digital Impact, Technology and Innovation Department (DITID). Job Purpose
The Senior Digital Impact Officer will play a crucial role in strengthening UNRWA's Digital Impact ecosystem by implementing initiatives focused on digital skills, upskilling, innovation, and digital employment. The purpose of this role is to enhance digital livelihoods opportunities for refugees through effective programme design, implementation, and coordination. This involves developing and managing digital skilling pathways, fostering partnerships with various stakeholders, and ensuring robust monitoring and reporting to drive evidence-based decision-making and programme improvement. The officer will contribute to the overall DITID strategy and Agency priorities, aiming to create scalable and sustainable digital interventions.
Responsibilities
The Senior Digital Impact Officer is responsible for managing and coordinating Digital Impact programmes across UNRWA fields, ensuring alignment with Agency goals and DITID strategies. This includes overseeing workplans, resources, and delivery modalities, and supporting the development of Digital Hubs and upskilling initiatives. A key responsibility is developing and strengthening partnerships with private sector entities, academia, and other organizations to expand digital livelihoods. The role involves creating and enhancing digital skilling and upskilling pathways, supporting initiatives for digital freelancing and entrepreneurship, and identifying emerging digital trends. Furthermore, the officer will develop and maintain monitoring frameworks, analyze data, prepare reports, and document lessons learned to inform programme improvement and scalability. Coordination with internal teams, external partners, and support for staff are also integral to the role.
Work Experience
A minimum of 6 years of progressively responsible experience is required for candidates with a bachelor's degree, or 5 years for those with a master's degree. Experience should be in digital innovation, digital skills development, technology for development, digital livelihoods, or youth empowerment. Demonstrated experience in leading digital skilling or employment programmes and a proven track record in managing partnerships are essential.
