Organizational Context
The UN Development Coordination Office (DCO) oversees the Resident Coordinator system, supporting UN country teams and advancing the UN 2.0 vision for a modern, future-ready UN system. This role is based in New York and contributes to strengthening data, digital, innovation, strategic foresight, and behavioural science capabilities across the UN development system.
Job Purpose
This internship aims to support the UN Development Coordination Office (DCO) in its mission to transform the UN system by leveraging cutting-edge skills in data, digital, innovation, strategic foresight, and behavioural science. The intern will contribute to system-wide transformation, working across various teams within DCO. The role is designed to provide practical experience in areas critical to the UN's future effectiveness, aligning with the UN 2.0 vision and supporting the reinvigorated Resident Coordinator system. The intern will gain exposure to policy, programme cycle management, strategic communications, data and digital innovation, universal values, strategic partnerships, and regional operations, contributing to the DCO Digital Solutions Lab.
Responsibilities
Interns will be assigned to specific teams within the UN Development Coordination Office (DCO), contributing to its core functions. Responsibilities may include supporting policy development, programme cycle management, strategic communications, and information integrity. Interns will also engage with data, digital innovation, and universal values initiatives. Specific duties involve contributing to the DCO Digital Solutions Lab, sharing knowledge across teams, and potentially assisting in areas like strategic partnerships or regional office operations. The role involves working under the direct supervision of a full-time staff member, contributing to the overall transformation of the UN development system through UN 2.0 skill sets.

Skills
UN 2.0 skill sets including data, digital, innovation, strategic foresight, and behavioural science. Policy, planning, and coordination skills. Analytical and communications skills. Proficiency in relevant IT skills and programs (e.g., Python, Power BI, Tableau, SQL, GIS tools, ThinkCell, AI technologies, Adobe CS, Canva, PowerPoint). Ability to contribute to visual and data storytelling.
