Organizational Context

The United Nations Verification Mission in Colombia (UNVMC) seeks to promote public understanding of its mandate and political standing. The Strategic Communications and Public Information Unit manages media relations, partnerships, events, digital platforms, and internal communications. This internship is situated within this unit, reporting to the Chief.

Job Purpose

This internship aims to strengthen the Mission's public image by supporting the Strategic Communications and Public Information Unit. The intern will assist in producing multimedia and graphic materials, gathering information for internal communications, monitoring media, supporting outreach activities, and covering mission events. The role contributes to explaining the UNVMC's mandate and the implementation of the Final Agreement through effective communication strategies and daily tasks, enhancing public understanding and the Mission's visibility.

Responsibilities

Support the creation of multimedia and graphic products, including videos, brochures, infographics, images, and social media content, focusing on the Mission's mandates and utilizing editing and post-production tools. Assist in gathering information and designing internal communication materials, such as the quarterly newsletter. Conduct media monitoring to track relevant news and public sentiment. Provide support for the implementation of outreach activities and events. Assist with photographic coverage of internal and external mission activities. Support photo and image editing for all digital and print materials. Undertake other tasks as assigned by the department to support communication efforts.

Work Experience

Professional work experience is not required for this internship. However, experience in animation and proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects, Premier, Photoshop, Illustrator), typography, and composition are desirable.
