Organizational Context
The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) seeks an intern for the Extractive Commodities Section within the Division on International Trade and Commodities. This internship, based in Geneva or home-based, offers a 4-month duration starting in May. Job Purpose

Responsibilities
The intern will be responsible for collecting, compiling, and validating quantitative and qualitative data on commodity markets, focusing on production, trade, and policy developments in the minerals and metals sector. This includes analyzing critical energy transition minerals to understand market drivers and their impacts on global trade, supply security, and the energy transition. The role involves monitoring and documenting export restrictions, maintaining a dedicated database, and ensuring data accuracy. Additionally, the intern will conduct targeted research to support policy briefs and publications on critical minerals for resource-rich countries, contributing to research on value addition, diversification, and global frameworks for traceability. The intern will also assist in organizing and preparing for intergovernmental meetings, identifying speakers, and preparing background materials and presentations.
Work Experience
No professional work experience is required for this United Nations internship program. However, applicants must be students in the final year of a university degree program (bachelor's or equivalent), Master's, or Ph.D. program, or have completed such a program. A field of study closely related to the internship is essential.
Skills
