Organizational Context
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) is part of the UN Secretariat, responsible for coordinating humanitarian actors to ensure effective responses to emergencies. This Information Management Associate role is situated within OCHA's Information Systems Section in Nairobi, Kenya, supporting the humanitarian community with critical data.
Job Purpose
The Information Management Associate is responsible for ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality content and coordinating information management workflows across different locations. This role involves conducting quality control and verification of content, leveraging regional knowledge and language skills. The Associate will participate in strategy discussions, manage information systems, and collaborate with partners to expand OCHA's outreach. By ensuring critical information reaches stakeholders quickly during crises, this position enhances the organization's ability to respond effectively, streamlines processes for greater efficiency, and maintains the credibility of OCHA's content, thereby strengthening relationships and the overall effectiveness of humanitarian efforts.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality content from partners and initiating coverage for sudden crises. The Associate will coordinate content management across various duty stations to ensure smooth collaboration and consistent workflows. This involves conducting quality control and verification of content, utilizing country, regional, or thematic knowledge and language skills. The role also entails participating in strategy discussions and managing both emerging and established information systems. Furthermore, the Information Management Associate will collaborate with existing partners and staff to expand OCHA’s outreach and marketing efforts, review current partnerships, and identify new opportunities, ultimately ensuring critical information reaches stakeholders quickly during crises and enhancing the organization's response capabilities.
Work Experience
A minimum of six years of experience in disaster management, humanitarian, or development sectors is required, with at least three years in communication, information management, content management, content curation, or digital product management. Experience with CRM tools, content management guidelines, and working in international organizations is desirable.
