Organizational Context
The United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF) Pension Administration seeks a Subject Matter Expert in information security, cryptography, and blockchain security. This remote, 12-month consultancy role will assess blockchain and post-quantum security risks, providing vulnerability analysis and migration options to enhance UNJSPF's security posture.
Job Purpose
The primary purpose of this role is to conduct a comprehensive assessment of blockchain information security risks and emerging post-quantum threats relevant to UNJSPF operations. This involves analyzing vulnerabilities, evaluating quantum resistance of blockchain platforms, and reviewing existing security controls. The expert will develop actionable recommendations for post-quantum security preparedness, including migration strategies and implementation timelines. Key contributions include delivering detailed technical reports, executive summaries, and knowledge transfer sessions to internal teams, ensuring UNJSPF is equipped to address future security challenges in the evolving digital landscape.
Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive assessments of blockchain information security risks and analyze current and emerging post-quantum threats to blockchain infrastructure. Evaluate the quantum vulnerability of major cryptocurrencies and blockchain platforms used by UNJSPF, and review existing security controls, governance frameworks, and risk mitigation strategies. Identify quantum-resistant blockchain projects and migration pathways for existing solutions. Develop actionable recommendations for post-quantum security preparedness, including migration strategies and implementation timelines. Prepare detailed technical reports and executive summaries on the blockchain security posture. Present findings and recommendations to UNJSPF senior management and advise on due diligence frameworks for evaluating blockchain security. Provide knowledge transfer sessions on blockchain security best practices to internal teams.
Work Experience
A minimum of 20 years of professional experience in information security and distributed systems, including blockchain technology, is required. Proven expertise in cryptographic protocols, consensus mechanisms, smart contract security, and blockchain network vulnerabilities is essential. Demonstrated knowledge of post-quantum cryptography threats and familiarity with NIST PQC standardization are necessary. Experience advising financial institutions or government organizations on technology risk management is highly desirable.
