Organizational Context
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in Nairobi, Kenya, is the UN system's entity for global and regional environmental issues. Job Purpose
This internship aims to support the Climate Finance Unit's communications efforts within UNEP's Climate Change Division. The intern will assist in developing and executing the Unit's communication strategy across various channels, contributing to the dissemination of information on climate finance, nature-based solutions, and sustainable land use. The role involves creating and editing diverse communication materials, managing online presence, documenting events, and supporting internal reporting, thereby enhancing the Unit's outreach and impact in promoting environmental policy and sustainable development.
Responsibilities
Support the development and implementation of the Unit’s communications strategy across digital and traditional channels. Draft, edit, and proofread communications materials, including newsletters, blog posts, social media content, press releases, and website updates. Design and produce visual communications materials such as infographics, fact sheets, brochures, and presentation templates. Document events, workshops, and milestones through photography, note-taking, and post-event write-ups. Maintain and update the Unit’s online presence, including website content and social media accounts. Monitor media coverage and compile relevant media roundups. Participate in internal meetings and assist in preparing report documents and communication resources.
Work Experience
