This internship is within the Adaptation & Resilience Branch.
Job Purpose
This internship within UNEP's Climate Finance Unit in Nairobi aims to support the deployment of incubation programs for green entrepreneurs, specifically within the Pro-Congo project. The role involves assisting with program coordination, conducting market research for development activities in French-speaking countries, and contributing research for program modules on topics like carbon markets and finance. The intern will also help coordinate with regional teams and local entities, translate program materials between English and French, and support internal meetings and reporting. The overall purpose is to contribute to strengthening environmental policy implementation and sustainable development initiatives through practical support and research.
Responsibilities
Support the deployment of incubation programs for green entrepreneurs, including participating in calls, drafting meeting minutes, and preparing briefing notes. Conduct market and scoping research to identify intervention regions, sectors, and stakeholders for market development in French-speaking countries. Contribute research and analyses for developing program modules on specific topics such as carbon markets, PES, and finance literacy. Assist in coordinating with regional teams and local executing entities in Francophone countries. Translate and adapt program materials, communications, and reports between English and French. Participate in internal meetings and assist the team in preparing reports and communication resources. Perform other duties as required.
Work Experience
