Organizational Context

This internship is within the Office of the Secretariat of the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Road Safety, part of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) in Geneva. The role supports the Special Envoy's mandate to address the global road safety crisis and its connection to the Sustainable Development Goals.

Job Purpose

The Programme Management Intern will support the Secretariat of the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Road Safety. This involves conducting research to identify potential partners and inform the Special Envoy's activities. The intern will also draft communications to enhance the visibility of road safety issues, research the link between road safety and SDGs, and assist with events, campaigns, and social media activities. The role aims to contribute to the overall mission of promoting global road safety and achieving related Sustainable Development Goals.

Responsibilities

The intern will undertake research to identify potential partners and inform the activities of the Special Envoy for Road Safety. Key duties include drafting articles, briefing notes, and other outreach materials to increase awareness of the global road safety crisis. The role also involves researching initiatives that connect road safety with other Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Additionally, the intern will provide support for events, campaigns, projects, and other activities planned by the Special Envoy, including assistance with social media engagement. Performing other requested duties is also part of the role.
