Job Purpose
This internship aims to support the UN Information Centre for the Caribbean Area by curating digital content and enhancing audience engagement. The intern will identify and summarize high-value news from UN system websites across the Caribbean, draft engaging content for newsletters and social media, and assist in the distribution and promotion of this information. The role is designed to provide practical experience in digital communications, content creation, and audience outreach, contributing to greater public understanding and support for the United Nations' objectives in the region.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include performing regular sweeps of UN agency websites and social media platforms in the English- and Dutch-speaking Caribbean to harvest relevant content. The intern will draft concise, engaging summaries ('blurbs') for featured links to provide context and encourage clicks. This content will be populated into bi-weekly newsletter templates and assist in their technical rollout. Additionally, the intern will curate information for weekly digital vacancy cards for social media, adapt content using Canva templates for social media graphics, and research/draft full-length news or feature stories for the UN Caribbean newsletter or website as needed. Support for local outreach activities and other assigned duties are also expected.
Work Experience
Professional work experience is not required for this internship. However, a strong interest in writing, content creation, and graphic design is desirable. Applicants must demonstrate knowledge of standard MS applications, Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, and newsletter platforms like Mailchimp.
