The UN Resident Coordinator Offices (UN RCO) support countries in achieving development priorities and the SDGs, operating under a global reform initiative. The UNRC Office for Malaysia, with multi-country status for Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei Darussalam, is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This role is situated within the UN RCO in Kuala Lumpur.
Job Purpose
The Driver will operate vehicles safely to transport the UN Resident Coordinator and authorized personnel, ensuring strict confidentiality and adherence to all security protocols. This role involves flexible working hours, including after-hours and weekends, to support operational needs. Key duties include delivering documents and parcels, making minor local purchases, assisting with customs clearance for goods, and meeting official personnel at the airport. The incumbent will also be responsible for the daily maintenance and cleanliness of assigned vehicles, logging all trips and expenses, and ensuring compliance with accident reporting procedures. Additionally, the driver will apply good judgment in assignments and may assist with data collection and basic report preparation.
Responsibilities
Safely drive UN Resident Coordinator and authorized personnel, maintaining strict confidentiality and adhering to security protocols. Be flexible with working hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel. Regularly deliver parcels and documents between UN and other offices, ministries, embassies, and partners. Make minor local purchases and collect urgent items, handling customs procedures for goods. Meet and assist official personnel with airport immigration and customs. Effectively interact with officials and visitors. Perform daily vehicle maintenance, including checks on oil, water, battery, and brakes, conduct minor repairs, and ensure vehicle cleanliness. Log all trips, mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance. Follow procedures in case of accidents. Apply sound judgment in all tasks. Assist with data collection, analysis, and preparation of basic reports and visualizations. Perform other assigned duties.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of continuous driving experience with a safe driving record is required. Experience driving various vehicle types, including vans, is necessary. Experience working with senior diplomatic officials or international organizations like the UN is desirable.
