Organizational Context
The UN Resident Coordinator Office (UN RCO) in Kuala Lumpur supports Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei Darussalam in achieving development priorities and SDGs. As part of a global reform, UN RCOs operate under an independent UN Resident Coordinator, the highest-ranking UN Development System official at the country level. This role is situated within the UN RCO in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Job Purpose
The Driver will operate vehicles safely to transport the UN Resident Coordinator and authorized UN personnel, ensuring strict confidentiality and adherence to all security and organizational protocols. This role involves making regular deliveries of documents and parcels, performing minor purchases, and collecting goods, including customs clearance. The incumbent will also facilitate airport arrivals and departures for official personnel, manage day-to-day vehicle maintenance, log all trips and expenses, and ensure compliance with accident procedures. Additionally, the driver will apply good judgment in assignments and may assist with data collection, analysis, and basic report preparation, demonstrating flexibility in working hours as required.
Responsibilities
Safely drive UN personnel and transport official documents and parcels. Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all security, safety, and organizational protocols. Ensure day-to-day maintenance of assigned vehicles, including checks, minor repairs, and cleanliness. Log all official trips, mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance records. Facilitate airport arrivals and departures, including customs and immigration formalities. Make minor purchases and collect urgent items from local suppliers, handling customs regulations. Deal effectively and tactfully with officials and visitors. Apply good judgment in all assignments and ensure compliance with accident procedures. Assist with data collection, analysis, and preparation of reports and visualizations as needed. Be available for flexible working hours, including after-hours, weekends, and travel.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of continuous driving experience with a safe driving record is required. Experience driving various vehicle types, including vans, is necessary. Experience working with senior diplomatic officials or international organizations like the UN is desirable.
