Job Purpose
This internship aims to provide valuable exposure to staff union work within the UN system, strengthening the intern's research, communications, and organizational skills. The intern will support the UNFSU's advocacy, communications, and membership initiatives, contributing to the Union's mandate. Key activities include research on UN policies, drafting advocacy materials, managing digital outreach, and engaging with stakeholders. The role is designed to offer practical experience in staff representation and union operations, enhancing the intern's professional development while contributing to the Union's objectives.
Responsibilities
Conduct research and analysis on UN policies, staff regulations, and administrative issuances impacting field staff. Assist in drafting position papers, briefing notes, and advocacy materials for UNFSU leadership. Monitor developments on staff security, conditions of service, mobility, and health insurance. Plan, create, and publish high-quality content across websites, newsletters, and social media, including multimedia assets. Manage website and social media updates, monitor digital engagement, and prepare analytical summaries. Support campaigns, ensuring brand consistency and accessibility. Liaise with UN missions, departments, and staff representatives to source stories and align messaging. Assist in organizing consultations, meetings, and workshops with staff representatives and UN management. Prepare meeting notes, background documents, and follow-up actions. Support the design and administration of surveys for members and assist in data analysis and presentation.
Work Experience
No professional work experience is required for this internship. However, applicants must have good knowledge of standard software applications, particularly MS Word and MS PowerPoint. Familiarity with CMS, analytics, and basic design/video tools is desirable.
