This role is based in Jakarta, working within the UN-REDD Jakarta and Asia Pacific teams.
Job Purpose
The Programme Management Officer will coordinate the implementation of the UN-REDD Programme in Indonesia on behalf of UNEP. This involves monitoring and evaluating programme development, liaising with government and partners, and ensuring smooth project execution. The role requires developing action plans, conducting research, and analyzing policy trends related to REDD+ and forest carbon markets. The incumbent will also prepare reports, organize workshops, and provide substantive support for meetings and outreach activities. Additionally, the position involves managing budget-related activities, analyzing data for informed decision-making, and ensuring proper documentation of research and background information. The officer will contribute to achieving emission reduction targets in line with national and provincial plans.
Responsibilities
Develops, implements, and evaluates the UN-REDD Programme in Indonesia, monitoring project progress and addressing issues. Conducts consulting assignments, including facilitating workshops and developing action plans for change management. Researches, analyzes, and presents information from diverse sources. Coordinates REDD+ and forest carbon market policy development, including reviewing trends and conducting studies. Designs and analyzes data collection tools, interpreting responses to identify problems. Prepares written outputs such as background papers, reports, and publications. Provides substantive support for meetings and conferences, including agenda setting and document preparation. Initiates and coordinates outreach activities, training workshops, and presentations on relevant topics. Leads and participates in field missions, guiding consultants and government officials. Coordinates budget funding activities, including project preparation, submissions, and financial reporting. Collects and analyzes data using visualization methods to support planning and decision-making. Ensures documentation of data analysis requirements and background information. Performs other duties as required.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of progressive experience in project/programme management, specifically in forest management, REDD+, and forest carbon markets in Indonesia, is required. Proven experience in high-level governmental engagement, policy advisory support, and multi-stakeholder facilitation is essential. Experience with the UN system or similar international organizations in Asia Pacific is desirable, as is experience with data analytics.
