Job Purpose
The Assistant Information Systems Officer will support OCHA's mission by assisting in the design, development, installation, and maintenance of information systems. This includes preparing technical specifications, developing and testing applications, providing operational support, and managing system changes. The role involves contributing to project planning, ensuring data security, and supporting Helpdesk services. Additionally, the incumbent will assist in user training, data analysis for planning, and managing ICT assets, ensuring hardware functionality and liaising with vendors. The position aims to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of OCHA's information systems and client support.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include participating in the preparation of user requirements and technical specifications for information systems. The role involves assisting in the design, development, installation, and rigorous testing of applications software. The Assistant Information Systems Officer will maintain assigned system portions, provide operational support, and implement system changes/upgrades. Responsibilities extend to assisting with project planning, schedule maintenance, and monitoring timelines. The incumbent will also help identify resources, manage project deviations, develop status reports, and monitor risks. Additional duties include writing programs for system interfaces, ensuring data security, developing disaster recovery plans, maintaining system documentation, and assisting in procurement processes. The role also encompasses Helpdesk support, client communication, advising users on hardware/software, drafting training materials, conducting user training, and contributing to data analysis and asset management, including hardware maintenance and vendor liaison.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of progressive experience in networking support or a related field is required. Essential experience includes Microsoft Operating Systems, Microsoft Office solutions, system installation/configuration, and supporting clients with MS365 applications. Desirable experience includes cloud services, ICT inventory management, and working within UN systems.
Skills
Proficiency in information technology/management, systems analysis, database design, and programming. Knowledge of high-level programming languages, structured/object-oriented design, scripting, query languages, and document management. Strong skills in planning, organizing, and client orientation. Ability to manage commitments, achieve results, and remain calm under stress.
