Chief, Broadcast and Conferencing Support Section
Organizational Context
This position is within the Operations Support Division of the Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT) at the UN Secretariat. The role reports to the Chief of the Regional Service Management Service, contributing to the division's mandate of providing essential ICT support services.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to lead and oversee the strategic design, development, and implementation of major systems initiatives for broadcast, audiovisual, and conferencing support services. The incumbent will provide authoritative technical and policy advice to senior management, ensuring these critical services align with evolving business needs and technological advancements. This involves managing complex projects, fostering innovation, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, integrated solutions that support the organization's operational objectives and enhance communication capabilities across various platforms and environments.
Responsibilities
Conceptualize and oversee the design and implementation of major broadcast, audiovisual, and conferencing systems initiatives, managing complex projects involving innovative applications and system integration. Provide expert technical and policy advice to senior management on digital media systems, identifying future needs and promoting best practices. Lead and direct a specialized team, managing work assignments, coaching staff, and participating in recruitment and training. Oversee procurement processes, including needs assessments, contract negotiation, and vendor management. Develop and monitor performance measures, ensuring projects meet time, cost, and quality standards. Manage technical support services for broadcast and conferencing systems, including budget, work program, and spending plans. Develop innovative solutions for complex problems and establish standards and procedures for a stable systems environment. Lead data collection and analysis efforts to inform planning and decision-making.
Work Experience
A minimum of ten years of progressive experience in managing and supporting ICT services, specifically broadcast and conferencing infrastructure, is required. Experience in leading multidisciplinary technology teams, overseeing cross-domain initiatives (ICT, broadcast, audiovisual), and supporting high-level international meetings or conferences is essential. Experience with data analytics is desirable.
