Information Management Intern: UX Design
Organizational Context
The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) is the UN system's focal point for coordinating disaster reduction efforts and ensuring synergies. Based in Bangkok, this internship is within the Information Design and Technology Solutions (IDTS) unit, reporting to the UX Design Lead. UNDRR works to guide, monitor, and report on the Sendai Framework implementation.
Job Purpose
This internship offers a valuable opportunity to contribute to the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) by supporting UX design initiatives. The intern will assist in enhancing the usability and accessibility of digital platforms, including systems for damage and losses, and knowledge hubs. By engaging in user research, prototyping, and design system development, the role directly contributes to UNDRR's mission of reducing disaster risk globally. This position provides hands-on experience in a dynamic international environment, fostering the development of essential UX design skills while supporting critical disaster risk reduction efforts.
Responsibilities
Assist in designing and prototyping user interfaces for projects like Damage and Losses systems and Knowledge Hubs. Conduct user research through surveys, interviews, and usability testing to improve platform usability and accessibility. Create and refine sketches, mockups, and interactive prototypes for UI/UX concepts. Support the development and maintenance of design systems, UI components, and style guides for consistency. Collaborate with developers, data teams, and stakeholders to integrate UX improvements with technical requirements. Document design processes, research findings, and usability insights to facilitate iterative improvements. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Work Experience
No professional work experience is required for this internship. However, applicants must meet the specified educational criteria and be pursuing or have completed a relevant degree. A portfolio of coursework may be requested.
