Organizational Context
The Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), a regional commission of the UN Secretariat, is pioneering action in climate-resilient and inclusive social protection for the Asia-Pacific region. This project aims to build capacity in beneficiary countries to address the impacts of climate change on social protection systems and vulnerable groups.
Job Purpose
This role supports the implementation of a project focused on climate-resilient and inclusive social protection within the Asia-Pacific region. The purpose is to contribute to strengthening national capacities in identifying, quantifying, and collaborating on social protection measures that buffer against climate change impacts. The role will facilitate logistical and substantive preparations for national consultations and regional meetings, support the finalization of studies and knowledge products, and assist in communication and stakeholder engagement activities to promote resilient societies and a just transition.
Responsibilities
Conduct literature and background research for national and regional knowledge products, focusing on Cambodia, Sri Lanka, and Thailand. Collate case studies on social protection and climate change. Support data analysis and prepare household datasets. Assist with outreach, communication, and stakeholder engagement. Coordinate logistical and substantive preparations for national consultations, regional meetings, and committee sessions. Facilitate national and regional consultations and workshops. Prepare meeting documentation and communication materials. Maintain project stakeholder databases and liaise with national and regional counterparts. Support communication of project achievements and provide ad hoc support for project implementation.
Work Experience
Required experience includes academic or professional work in social protection, research, data analysis, and coordination. Experience working within an international organization is desirable.
