The United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOOSA) seeks a consultant to support the 'One Moon For All' project. This role will provide expert advice on lunar activities and intergenerational dialogue on space, contributing to Member State deliberations and the organization of key conferences and initiatives.
Job Purpose
The consultant will provide expert inputs and advice to UNOOSA, supporting Member States' deliberations on lunar activities through the Action Team on Lunar Activities Consultation (ATLAC). This role is crucial for organizing the 2026 UNOOSA Lunar Conference, including developing a final report, and for implementing UNOOSA’s Intergenerational Dialogue on Space. The consultant will act as a co-focal point within the Office, ensuring the successful execution of these critical initiatives and contributing to the safety and sustainability of lunar activities through multilateral discussions.
Responsibilities
Provide expert inputs and advice, including draft statements, briefs, and analytical notes, to support UNOOSA's work on lunar-related mechanisms. Lead the organization of the 2026 UNOOSA Lunar Conference, providing expert insights on lunar topics and facilitating multilateral discussions on safety and sustainability. Develop an implementation plan for UNOOSA’s Intergenerational Dialogue on Space and provide expert support as a co-focal point for its conduct. Support UNOOSA in developing and executing the 'One Moon For All' project, specifically advising on Member State deliberations within ATLAC.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of professional experience in space law, space diplomacy, or international relations is required. Experience with international relations and organizations is desirable. Experience in leadership roles within relevant international or non-governmental organizations may substitute for up to two years of work experience.
Skills
Expertise in lunar activities and policies. Strong research, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Experience in international relations and organizations. Fluency in English.
