Organizational Context
The Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) Transport Division supports member States in developing sustainable transport networks. This role supports the "Accelerating the Transition to Electric Mobility for Public Transport in Asia and the Pacific (Phase II)" project, focusing on pilot electric bus systems in four countries. The project assistant will be based in Bangkok.
Job Purpose
The Project Assistant will support the ESCAP Transport Division in implementing the "Accelerating the Transition to Electric Mobility for Public Transport in Asia and the Pacific (Phase II)" project. This involves contributing to the successful completion of research, analysis, report drafting, editing, and timely preparation of project outputs. The role is crucial for facilitating the transition to low-carbon transport systems in target countries by supporting the development and dissemination of project deliverables, including financing mechanisms and implementation materials. The ultimate goal is to advance sustainable urban mobility and electric transport solutions across the Asia-Pacific region through capacity development and technical assistance.
Responsibilities
Provide required data and analyses for project activities. Draft relevant financing inputs and documentation. Edit, format, and design project reports and associated documents. Assist in preparing materials to facilitate the on-the-ground implementation of pilot electric bus projects in Lao PDR, the Philippines, and Tajikistan. Support the project team in finalizing project outputs and ensuring timely delivery of project activities and results. Contribute to research and analysis related to sustainable transport and electric mobility initiatives within the Asia-Pacific region.
Work Experience
Required experience includes work on transport-related topics in Asia and the Pacific, preferably involving multi-stakeholder project coordination or organizing workshops with government counterparts. Demonstrated ability in drafting and editing materials on transport or international development issues, particularly within the Asia-Pacific context, is essential.
