Organizational Context
The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), specifically the Trade, Investment and Innovation Division (TIID), supports member states in advancing trade facilitation and paperless trade. This role serves as the secretariat for the Framework Agreement on Facilitation of Cross-Border Paperless Trade in Asia and the Pacific (CPTA).
Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to provide essential support to the Trade, Investment and Innovation Division (TIID) of ESCAP in implementing the Framework Agreement on Facilitation of Cross-Border Paperless Trade in Asia and the Pacific (CPTA). The individual contractor will contribute by collecting and analyzing information related to trade facilitation and paperless trade, conducting background studies, and undertaking other tasks crucial for the implementation and advancement of CPTA and related initiatives. This work directly supports ESCAP members in enhancing their trade processes and fostering regional economic integration through digital means.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities include collecting essential information pertaining to trade facilitation, paperless trade, and the CPTA. The role involves undertaking background studies to deepen understanding and provide insights into these areas. Additionally, the individual contractor will be tasked with carrying out other related duties to support the implementation of the CPTA and other relevant work streams within the division. This encompasses research, analysis, and reporting to contribute to the division's objectives in promoting cross-border paperless trade and overall trade facilitation in the Asia-Pacific region.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of research or work experience in economics, business, or trade is necessary. This experience should demonstrate a foundational understanding of the relevant sectors and analytical capabilities.
