Organizational Context
The United Nations Operations and Crisis Centre (UNOCC) supports UN senior leadership decision-making through situational awareness, analytics, preventive engagement, and crisis management. This role is within the UNOCC Watch Room, which provides 24/7 support to senior managers across the UN system by analyzing field events for informed decision-making and strategic engagement.
Job Purpose
This internship aims to support the United Nations Operations and Crisis Centre (UNOCC) in its mission to provide rapid situational awareness and analysis. The intern will contribute to informed, coordinated, and timely decision-making and strategic engagement on operations and crisis management at UN Headquarters. The role involves supporting senior leadership by analyzing data, drafting reports, conducting research, and assisting with meeting organization, thereby enhancing the UNOCC's capacity to manage crises and support UN operations globally.
Responsibilities
Support the Watch Room in analyzing and visualizing data from UNOCC Data Repositories. Assist in drafting and formatting meeting minutes, outcome notes, briefings, country profiles, visual aids, and presentations for UN senior leadership. Conduct open-source monitoring and research to gather relevant information. Support the organization of enhanced monitoring and crisis management meetings. Undertake other assignments as required to contribute to the UNOCC's operational effectiveness and support senior management.
Work Experience
No specific work experience is explicitly required for this internship. However, a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and a personal commitment to the UN Charter ideals are essential. Familiarity with data analysis, research, and report drafting would be beneficial.
