Organizational Context
The Investigations Division (ID) within the Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS) in Nairobi is responsible for investigating potential violations of UN rules, regulations, mismanagement, misconduct, waste of resources, and abuse of authority. This role supports the Secretary-General's oversight responsibilities by providing essential investigation services.
Job Purpose
The Investigation Assistant in Nairobi will support the planning, organization, and conduct of investigations into alleged violations of UN rules and regulations. This involves assisting in fact-finding, evidence gathering, and the preparation of investigation reports. The role also includes coordinating with relevant authorities, managing the case management system, monitoring the OIOS hotline, and performing data analysis and reporting to aid decision-making and information sharing. The position contributes to maintaining organizational integrity and accountability by ensuring thorough and efficient investigative processes.
Responsibilities
Assists in planning, organizing, and conducting investigations into alleged violations of UN rules and regulations. Supports fact-finding by identifying information, establishing facts, and gathering evidence. Produces and submits investigation reports and conducts post-investigation tasks. Coordinates and collaborates with UN and other relevant authorities throughout investigations. Assists in preparing reports, documentation, and statistical findings, including drafting annual and semi-annual reports. Initiates cases in the case management system, conducts research, and performs background checks. Drafts interview summaries and other required documents. Monitors the OIOS hotline, records complaints, and manages the Investigations Division Case Management System. Assists with transcription services, data collection, analysis, and preparation of presentations and reports. Updates information materials and performs other duties as required.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in administrative support of investigations is required. This is reduced to five years for candidates with a first degree or higher. Experience with ERP software, as part of an investigative team, using analytical/investigative software, and in data analytics is desirable.

Professionalism, strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, good judgment, planning and prioritization, strong drafting skills for investigation reports, communication (written and verbal), and teamwork.
