Organizational Context
The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) serves as the Regional Office for the Americas of the World Health Organization (WHO).
Job Purpose
To provide academic and methodological tutoring to residents and professionals of the Guatemalan Social Security Institute (IGSS), strengthening the integration of specialties with the Family and Community Health Strategy (ESFC-IGSS), Primary Health Care (PHC), Integrated Health Services Networks (RISS), interprofessional work, and person-centered care for individuals, families, and communities.
Responsibilities
Participate in technical induction on ESFC-IGSS, curriculum, learning outcomes, and project coordination. Develop or adjust syllabi for assigned modules, learning units, or communities of practice. Develop pedagogical packages for virtual learning environments, including design, tutor guides, participant guides, educational resources, and evaluation rubrics. Design clinical cases, integrative problems, discussion guides, simulation exercises, in-service activities, and evidence-based materials. Deliver in-person, virtual, and/or hybrid sessions, including field teaching, in-service tutoring, and accompaniment of residents and communities of practice. Apply formative and summative competency-based assessments, provide structured feedback, and document progress, gaps, and improvement actions. Articulate specialty teaching with comprehensiveness, longitudinality, care coordination, life course approach, family and community work, patient safety, and cultural relevance. Support the development or revision of protocols, guidelines, pathways, algorithms, care lines, and institutional technical documents as required. Contribute to applied research, systematization, experience analysis, and knowledge management product development. Coordinate with PAHO/WHO, IGSS, the responsible university, the virtual campus, and other tutors, respecting institutional roles and the approved schedule.
Work Experience
Minimum of five years of professional experience with demonstrable practice in the technical area of application. Experience in teaching, tutoring, preceptorship, or continuing health education. Experience in health research, evidence analysis, systematization, or technical document development. Availability to teach and provide tutoring in the field according to the assignment schedule.

Comprehensive management of health problems in one's area, with a life course approach, patient safety, continuity, and care coordination. Development, adaptation, and evaluation of academic content and educational resources. Application of active methodologies, problem/case-based learning, simulation, and in-service tutoring. Proficiency with technological tools, learning platforms, and blended learning modalities. Applied research, critical reading, evidence-based medicine/health, and knowledge management. Development of technical documents, reports, protocols, guidelines, algorithms, or evaluation instruments. Didactic skills, effective communication, and constructive feedback. Teamwork and integration of the Family and Community Health perspective. Planning, organization, deadline adherence, and results orientation. Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams, residents, faculty, managers, and communities of practice. Openness to learning, ethical conduct, intercultural sensitivity, and respect for diversity.
Required Languages
Spanish: advanced oral and written proficiency.
Desired Languages
Technical English: desirable, especially for reading and using scientific evidence. Functional proficiency in word processors, presentation software, spreadsheets, video conferencing, and virtual learning platforms; experience with CVSP or Moodle is desirable.
