Organizational Context

The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) serves as the Regional Office for the Americas of the World Health Organization (WHO).

Job Purpose

To contribute to strengthening health surveillance in Uruguay and sub-regional coordination for the exchange of information on public health events through technical consultation processes, harmonization of procedures, and consolidation of operational mechanisms applicable to MERCOSUR countries and Project PROTECT participants.

Responsibilities

Provide technical cooperation to the Ministry of Public Health in epidemiological surveillance, risk management, and disaster preparedness. Facilitate technical consultation and validation processes, consolidate operational procedures for communication and information exchange on public health events. Identify harmonization and consensus opportunities. Develop recommendations for the implementation and application of agreed-upon procedures. Coordinate preparatory meetings, design methodologies, prepare working documents, and facilitate validation activities. Systematize observations and recommendations. Prepare final technical reports and consolidated products.

Work Experience

Minimum of five years of experience in epidemiological surveillance, public health, or emergency management. Experience in facilitating participatory processes and multinational technical consultations. Experience in developing and validating operational procedures, protocols, or technical guidelines. Experience working with MERCOSUR countries. Experience working with international organizations and multi-country projects.
