Organizational Context

The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) serves as the Regional Office for the Americas of the World Health Organization (WHO).

Job Purpose

To support the Information Systems and Digital Health Unit (EIH/IS) in producing and disseminating communication materials, technical and strategic documentation for key projects. To ensure effective dissemination of regional advancements in digital transformation, digital literacy, and the strengthening of civil registration and vital statistics systems.

Responsibilities

Conceptualize, design, and produce visual and communication materials. Create strategic content packages for digital media, adapting technical information into engaging visual and narrative formats such as infographics, carousels, and blog posts. Layout and design complex technical documents for digital publication and print. Develop custom design templates for technical reports to donors. Collaborate with the Unit team to identify communication needs and propose creative solutions. Perform other design and communication tasks as requested.

Work Experience

Essential: At least 9 years of professional experience in graphic design and visual communication, focusing on branding, editorial design, and digital content creation. Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing brand identity guidelines or style manuals for public health or international organizations. Desirable: Proven ability to design and produce various materials including publications, technical reports, and social media content packages. Experience in creating digital prototypes or mockups for websites. Work experience with international organizations, public health entities, or non-profit organizations is an asset.

Skills

Excellent command of professional design software, particularly Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign). Strong communication skills to present design concepts clearly and effectively, and to receive and apply feedback. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet strict deadlines. Keen attention to detail and a solid understanding of visual consistency across different media. Proficiency in using digital collaboration tools (e.g., Teams, SharePoint, cloud-based platforms) for file sharing and project management.
