Organizational Context
The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) serves as the Regional Office for the Americas of the World Health Organization (WHO).
Job Purpose
To design, plan, and facilitate the implementation of specific activities for the expansion of tuberculosis preventive therapy in the region, in line with the Biannual Work Plan of the HIV, Hepatitis, Tuberculosis, and Sexually Transmitted Infections Unit (CDE/HT).
Responsibilities
Provide technical cooperation to countries to expand the implementation of contact tracing and TB preventive treatment in at-risk populations. Support the monitoring of the situation and progress in the expansion of contact tracing and TB preventive treatment in the region's countries. Design a regional technical cooperation strategy for expanding TB preventive treatment. Plan and develop sub-regional virtual meetings on preventive treatment for contacts and people living with HIV. Prepare and submit a monitoring report and support for projects submitted to the TDR call for funding for operational research projects in TB and VIH. Prepare and implement national workshops on expanding contact tracing and TB preventive treatment for at-risk populations.
Work Experience
At least 9 years of combined national and international experience in the field of TB and HIV. Demonstrable experience in designing, planning, and facilitating public health interventions. Knowledge of project management, epidemiological analysis, technical support, and monitoring and evaluation. Technical knowledge and competencies in tuberculosis prevention and control within the framework of the End TB strategy and the PAHO Elimination Initiative. Technical knowledge in managing communicable diseases in closed settings. Practical knowledge and skills in planning, executing, and monitoring program activities; demonstrated ability to organize visits, meetings, workshops, or events. Strong problem-solving skills; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams under tight deadlines. Strong oral and written communication skills, including report writing, oral presentations, and technical document preparation. Proficiency in computer programs such as Word, Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook; and digital communication tools like Teams, Zoom.
