Organizational Context

The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) serves as the Regional Office for the Americas of the World Health Organization (WHO).

Job Purpose

To provide technical support for public health emergency preparedness, surveillance, and response activities within the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO)/Regional Office of the World Health Organization (WHO).

Responsibilities

Provide technical support for public health emergency preparedness, surveillance, and response activities. Support strengthening of health intelligence, epidemiological, laboratory, genomic, and syndromic surveillance. Support the production, analysis, and monitoring of strategic indicators. Develop dashboards, Business Intelligence (BI) tools, and strategic monitoring solutions. Contribute to the application of artificial intelligence and innovation solutions for process optimization, work routines, and decision-making support. Support analysis of priority public health events and development of technical products for preparedness and response actions. Support preparation and response to extreme climate events, border health, and epidemic-potential pathogens. Participate in simulations, technical workshops, strategic meetings, and other emergency preparedness and response activities. Support the development of technical documents, strategic reports, institutional presentations, and operational flows. Support the operationalization of technical cooperation with the Ministry of Health, states, municipalities, and strategic partners. Support the development of technical proposals, strategic projects, and institutional articulation activities related to the coordination's priority agendas. Support the organization of internal processes, monitoring of strategic activities, and coordination management activities.

Work Experience

Essential: Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in health-related activities, including hospital, laboratory, health surveillance, public health, or health management settings. Experience with PAHO/WHO or other international organizations, and in supporting project management, activity monitoring, technical document/report preparation, and indicator tracking. Desirable: Experience in health intelligence, epidemiological surveillance, laboratory surveillance, genomic surveillance; public health emergency preparedness and response, including participation in simulations, technical workshops, or related activities; development of dashboards, Business Intelligence (BI) tools, data monitoring and analysis; preparation of technical proposals and institutional projects; application of artificial intelligence and innovation tools for work process support; technical cooperation and institutional articulation with government agencies, health institutions, research centers, or strategic partners; and process management and strategic monitoring.

Skills

Experience in process management, strategic activity monitoring, operational flow organization, and technical-administrative management support. Experience in strategic indicator monitoring and data analysis. Experience in building dashboards and Business Intelligence (BI) tools. Experience in preparing technical documents and strategic reports. Experience with technical cooperation and institutional articulation. Experience in developing technical proposals. Experience in artificial intelligence and innovation tools applied to work processes. Experience in genomic surveillance. Experience in preparation and response to extreme climate events. Experience in preparing for public health emergencies, including participation in simulations, technical workshops, or related activities.
