Organizational Context
The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) serves as the Regional Office for the Americas of the World Health Organization (WHO).
Job Purpose
To provide technical support to countries to incorporate an intercultural approach to health services, focusing on sexual and reproductive health, prevention and elimination of communicable diseases, and other priority areas, while ensuring the participation of vulnerable groups.
Responsibilities
Provide technical cooperation and training to countries on intercultural health approaches. Participate in capacity-building activities related to knowledge dialogues on sexual and reproductive health and communicable diseases. Contribute to the implementation of the Strategy and Plan of Action on Ethnicity and Health 2019-2025.
Work Experience
Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in public health projects, including experience in Intercultural health. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential. Experience working with PAHO/WHO, in the Latin American region, or with Indigenous and/or Afro-descendant communities is desirable.
Skills
Interpersonal skills, communication skills (writing, presenting, researching), IT application proficiency.
Required Languages
Very good knowledge of English or Spanish with working knowledge of the other language.
Desired Languages
Knowledge of French and/or Portuguese.
