Organizational Context

The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) serves as the Regional Office for the Americas of the World Health Organization (WHO).

Job Purpose

To support and facilitate the implementation of technical cooperation activities for tuberculosis (TB) included in the Biannual Work Plan of the HIV, Hepatitis, Tuberculosis, and Sexually Transmitted Infections (HT) Unit.

Responsibilities

Support the preparation, analysis, and dissemination of strategic information related to the TB epidemic and response in the region, including updating the regional TB situational room and developing specific analyses and dashboards. Monitor country reporting to the WHO global TB reporting system and WHO estimates. Provide technical support to countries to strengthen TB information systems, including reviewing surveillance systems and under-notification studies. Provide technical cooperation for the implementation and monitoring of progress in TB and HIV mortality analyses and TB under-registration studies. Support the monitoring and preparation of dissemination materials on the progress of key TB elimination interventions in the region, focusing on vulnerable populations and high-burden areas.

Work Experience

At least 7 years of combined national and international experience in the field of TB. Demonstrable knowledge in epidemiological analysis of communicable diseases and TB. Knowledge of project management, technical support, and monitoring and evaluation. Technical knowledge and competencies in TB prevention and control within the framework of the End TB strategy and PAHO Elimination Initiative. Technical knowledge in managing communicable diseases in closed settings. Practical knowledge and skills in planning, executing, and monitoring program activities; demonstrated ability to organize visits, meetings, workshops, or events. Strong problem-solving skills; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams under tight deadlines. Strong oral and written communication skills, including report writing, oral presentations, and technical document preparation.

Skills

Proficiency in computer programs such as Word, Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook; and digital communication tools like Teams, Zoom.
