Organizational Context
The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) serves as the Regional Office for the Americas of the World Health Organization (WHO).
Job Purpose
To provide technical support in the area of climate, healthy environments, and environmental determinants of health in Argentina, contributing to the strengthening of institutional and technical capacities to address the impacts of climate change and other environmental risks on health.
Responsibilities
Plan and execute technical cooperation aligned with the Americas Agenda on Health, Environment, and Climate Change 2021-2030. Develop early warning systems for heat and health. Strengthen risk communication capacities for heatwaves and extreme temperatures. Facilitate exchange of experiences on extreme heat and health. Apply the GreenUr tool for urban green spaces. Conduct comparative studies on air quality monitoring networks. Participate in working groups on air quality and noise pollution. Promote the healthy schools approach to strengthen educational environments.
Work Experience
At least 7 years of professional experience in public health, focusing on environmental determinants of health, climate change, or healthy environments. Experience working within the United Nations system and/or implementing and managing projects with external donors is desirable.
