Organizational Context
The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) serves as the Regional Office for the Americas of the World Health Organization (WHO). Its Department of Health Systems and Services (HSS) aims to strengthen health systems based on Primary Health Care, support the transformation of national health systems for greater equity and resilience, and address issues relevant to Universal Health.
Job Purpose
To contribute to the conceptual development, implementation, and use of the Perinatal Information System (SIP) within PAHO, focusing on strengthening its modules and reporting indicators to improve the quality of care in maternal, perinatal, neonatal, and sexual and reproductive health in the Americas.
Responsibilities
Contribute to the conceptual development and implementation of the Perinatal Information System (SIP) and its reporting indicators. Provide technical cooperation for the use of SIP modules to enhance care quality in member states. Facilitate human resource training on SIP usage. Analyze data generated from health information systems at regional and country levels. Prepare and disseminate interventions related to information systems for improving maternal, perinatal, neonatal, and sexual and reproductive health. Manage programming, monitoring, and evaluation of health information system activities. Participate in coordination meetings. Draft reports on the state of SIP implementation. Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Work Experience
Required: At least seven years of combined national and international experience in maternal health, project management, and scientific research, with documented experience using the Perinatal Information System. Desired: Knowledge of PAHO's structure and mandates, and documented experience as an educator, particularly in evidence-based interventions, epidemiology, and intervention evaluation.
Skills
Strong analytical and quantitative skills with attention to detail. High motivation, organizational, and management skills. Proactive approach. Advanced knowledge of Excel and other data analysis tools, PowerPoint, and Word. Ability to work effectively under pressure in a diverse, team-oriented environment. Experience in multicultural settings.
Required Languages
Spanish and English (written and oral proficiency).
Desired Languages
Basic knowledge of Portuguese and French.
