Organizational Context
The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) serves as the Regional Office for the Americas of the World Health Organization (WHO).
Job Purpose
Provide specialized technical assistance to support the implementation, monitoring, and coordination of PAHO's Health Emergencies Program interventions aimed at strengthening preparedness and response to infectious diseases and other health emergencies, contributing to ensuring the continuity of life-saving health services.
Responsibilities
Support the implementation and monitoring of PAHO's Health Emergencies Program (PHE) activities according to established work plans, timelines, and technical standards. Participate in technical meetings, field missions, and coordination spaces related to health emergency preparedness and response. Coordinate with the Ministry of Health, SIBASI, health facilities, and other relevant actors to facilitate effective execution of interventions. Provide technical guidance for implementing disease prevention and control interventions. Facilitate coordination with humanitarian organizations, government institutions, and implementing partners. Support the collection, systematization, and analysis of information for monitoring PHE emergency project indicators and evidence-based decision-making. Prepare periodic technical reports documenting progress, results, challenges, lessons learned, and recommendations. Contribute to the preparation of narrative reports for donors, situation reports, technical presentations, and other information products. Ensure interventions are implemented according to humanitarian principles, equity, gender, and protection approaches, as well as PAHO policies and procedures. Promote the application of national guidelines and protocols related to public health event response.
Work Experience
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in public health, epidemiological surveillance, health emergency management, outbreak response, or strengthening health services. Experience in planning, implementing, and monitoring health interventions. Experience in training and supervising health personnel. Experience in coordination with governmental institutions and other relevant actors. Experience in humanitarian contexts or projects funded by international donors. Previous work experience with PAHO, the UN System, or international organizations. Experience in prevention and response to vector-borne diseases.

Required Languages
Excellent command of the Spanish language.
